General information

Revamil® Collagen 5×5 cm is a dressing composed of 60% type I equine collagen and 40% pure Revamil® honey. The natural properties of collagen combined with those of 100% pure Revamil® honey, rich in enzymes, make this product unique. It accelerates the healing of chronic and acute wounds by forming granulation tissue and inhibiting bacterial proliferation.

Collagen is a polypeptide, the main component of the extracellular matrix or ECM. Collagen is responsible for skin structure and elasticity; in the proliferation phase of wound healing, more of it is needed. Collagen catalyses the migration of fibroblasts, stimulates the formation of granulation tissue and forms a pattern for skin regeneration. In addition, it acts as a local haemostat to control bleeding. Revarnil Collagen contains type I collagen of equine origin and is gamma-sterilised.

The 100% pure Revamil honey used for Revamil Collagen is produced under controlled conditions and is gamma-sterilised. This controlled production process guarantees that the product contains no pesticide residues and attests to its quality. Honey has a high enzyme content and therefore provides long-lasting antibacterial protection. Due to its osmosis and low pH (3.5), Revamil Collagen forms a thin layer over the wound, thus reinforcing the antibacterial protection provided by the dressing

Revamil Collagen is indicated for:
  • wounds:
    - surgical
    - diabetic
    - acute with bleeding
    - oncological
    - bedsores
    - dental treatments
  • 1st and 2nd degree burns.

How to use:
  • Clean the wound by repeatedly swabbing with gauze soaked in sterile saline. Then place the Revamil Collagen swab directly on the wound. If exudate is present, the swab can be moistened with sterile saline solution.
  • Use one or more swabs, placing them next to each other or slightly overlapping over the entire wound surface, so that each swab is completely in contact with the wound. Secure the swab with a secondary dressing (including elastic if necessary) adequate to handle the amount of exudate produced by the wound and to prevent the collagen from drying out and losing its effectiveness.
  • It is advisable to replace dressings every 3-4 days, depending on the amount of exudate generated by the wound. If the pad comes into contact with the exudate, a gel is formed that adapts to the contours of the wound. The dressing gradually dissolves and is reabsorbed by the body.
  • If Revamil Collagen is used for the treatment of ulcers and the product has adhered to the wound bed, it should not be removed or loosened when monitoring the wound. The dressing will gradually be reabsorbed by the body.
  • If Revamil Collagen is used as a haemostatic dressing and there is no assurance that the dressing has been applied in an aseptic environment, the pad should be removed after haemostasis.
