The HSG catheter is a sterile, single-use, double lumen catheter with balloon for hysterosalpingography (HSG) and sonohysterography (SHG). The device is made of polyurethane, does not contain latex, and includes: yellow protective sleeve, insertion sheath, balloon, double lumen tube, stopcock, inflation syringe, and Luer connector.
The HSG catheter has a double lumen structure: one lumen is used for the passage of contrast media, while the other is for balloon inflation. Once inflated, the balloon rests against the internal uterine orifice and keeps the catheter in position during the injection. The insertion sheath helps advance through the cervical canal. The body of the tube is X-ray visible, allowing the device to be used in fluoroscopy as well.
The catheter is ready to use: it is sterilized with ethylene oxide, has a Luer connector for the contrast media syringe, and a stopcock to keep the balloon inflated during the procedure.
The HSG catheter is designed for the administration of aqueous contrast media or saline during hysterosalpingography and sonohysterography procedures. These examinations allow for the assessment of patency of the fallopian tubes and the identification of uterine pathologies such as polyps, fibroids, adhesions, or endometrial thickening.
These procedures should only be performed by a physician or properly licensed practitioner trained indiagnostic and interventional technigues.
Pack of 10 pieces, individually wrapped.
The contrast media syringe is not included.
